On February 7, 2018, within the frames of the event dedicated to the Day of 112, Doors Open Day was held at 112 Tbilisi Center. Event was attended by the students of Ilia State University and Black Sea International University. Meeting aimed at informing the youth about the rule of conduct during the emergency situations.
Students were given opportunity to see the process of call taking and processing and how 112 operators help citizens when every second counts. Guests were also informed about when to dial 112 and how to explain situation to the call taker. Within the frames of the visit, representatives of the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia conducted practical training on how to provide first medical aid. With the knowledge received during the training, students will be able to independently provide first aid treatment before the arrival of ambulance crew.
Mentioned initiative was implemented as a result of research, conducted by European Emergency Number Association (EENA). According to the research, there is 80% probability that a person might need to provide first aid treatment. According to the statistical data, 8 out of 10 persons are unaware of first aid rules, which implies that 82% of the parents are incapable of providing first aid to their children before the arrival of ambulance crew.
February 11 is celebrated as 112 Day in more than 80 countries, including Georgia and EU member states with the aim of raising awareness. Annually, 112 Georgia conducts various information campaigns on 112 Day.
