The Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Kvirikashvili and the Minister of Internal Affairs, Giorgi Mghebrishvili Awarded for saving the lives of citizens.
The Prime Minister and the Minister of Internal Affairs opened the event with a welcoming speech.
“These people are not the only heroes of today. They are the heroes of our time and our country, and I mention this very often. This heroism is evidenced by their daily activities when, at the risk of their own lives and health, they are willing to sacrifice themselves to save other people. It is a great honor and responsibility for me to be their leader. However, I feel an even greater responsibility to their children, their spouses, their families, because these people – in the face of the world ‘s most insurmountable challenges, have to face, fight and win in the face of natural disasters, fires, floods and hardships.
Policeman, fire-rescuer, border guard – the representatives of this profession are backing each other day by day and all together they are turning their backs on our state, its security and, consequently, each of us. “Their appreciation and respect is a matter of dignity of all Georgian citizens,” said Giorgi Mghebrishvili.
Giorgi Kvirikashvili awarded four Border Police pilots for the most professional rescue operation – Major Besik Gabiani, Police Captain Shalva Shalibashvili, Chief of Police Besik Bakuridze and Major Dimitri Kaadze.
Giorgi Mghebrishvili awarded 17 employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the medal of the Ministry – “For Courage” for outstanding bravery during their official duties, and handed certificates of gratitude to 2 of them.
A documentary video of the rescue operation was presented at the award ceremony.
The event was attended by the family members of the awarded employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the citizens who survived them.
