A Press-Conference was held in “112” Emergency Response Center in regard to the issue of using the Emergency Number “1-1-2” for false purposes by adolescents.

The abovementioned issue was underlined after the incident of May 14, when the 14-years-old boy, for about an hour, made 50 abusive calls to “112” Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. At first, the initiator was informing about the Bomb in the “112” Emergency Center, after that, he wanted to call for Fire and Medical brigades. Due to these false calls, it became necessary to take out the Operators from “112” Call Centre and as a result, the working process of the Emergency Response Center was hindered for the short period of time.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia began the investigation on this issue and was able to identify the name of the call initiator.

Because of the fact that the offense was committed by the 14 years old child, according to Georgian legislation, it was impossible to impose the administrative responsibility on him, so the parents of the child were informed about the offence and the child was given a verbal warning.

“112” appeals to all teenagers to abstain from making Fake Calls. Such acts may impede the efficient work of the Emergency Response Center and endanger the lives of the people who really need a help.

In addition, LEPL “112” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia considers important the support from teenagers’ parents to regulate this problem.
