Public Safety Command Center “112” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in cooperation with the Georgia Office of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), presented an updated mobile application 112 and a video clip.

The event attended heads of various departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, and representatives of international and partner organizations.

Giorgi Arsoshvili, Swedish Ambassador to Georgia – Ulrik Tideström, and Lela Bakradze, head of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Georgia office, addressed the invited guests with a welcome speech.

At the event was presented information about the changes implemented in the 112 mobile program. As part of the update, information about early/childhood marriage has been added to the “Tips” tab: What is early marriage; how it is regulated by law and how the offender is punished. 112 application is already available in Armenian and Azerbaijani languages.

In addition, it has become possible for deaf and hard of hearing people to contact 112 from the application through a video call. Messages received in this way at the Public Safety Command Center are handled by sign language call-takers.

At the end of the event, Giorgi Arsoshvili, director of 112, thanked the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for the support and productive cooperation.

The event was held in cooperation with 112 and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Georgia office, within the framework of the joint UN program – “For Gender Equality”, with the financial support of the Swedish government.
