Strengthening road safety is one of the top priorities for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. Hence, the entity is actively engaged in installing video surveillance cameras on the roads of Georgia.
With the aim of strengthening road safety, 6 speed control sections started operating in Kakheti Region, on the territories of Telavi, Gurjaani and Kvareli Municipalities:
1. From 3rd km of Kvareli-Mukuzani highway (Village Sanavardo) to 6th km of Kvareli-Mukuzani highway highway (village Gavazi turn). Allowed speed 80km/h.
2. From 6th km of Kvareli-Mukuzani highway highway (village Gavazi turn) to 3rd km of Kvareli-Mukuzani highway (Village Sanavardo). Allowed speed 80km/h.
3. From 6th km of Kvareli-Mukuzani highway highway (village Gavazi turn) to 16th km of Kvareli-Mukuzani highway (Village Velitsikhe). Allowed speed 80km/h.
4. From 16th km of Kvareli-Mukuzani highway (Village Velitsikhe) to 6th km of Kvareli-Mukuzani highway highway (village Gavazi turn). Allowed speed 80km/h.
5. From the beginning of Telavi-Shakriani highway (0 km) to 2nd km of Telavi-Shakriani highway. Allowed speed 60km/h.
6. From 2nd km of Telavi-Shakriani highway to the beginning of Telavi-Shakriani highway (0 km). Allowed speed 60km/h.
As a result of these endeavours, a total of 1269 km of road throughout Georgia will be controlled by a sectional speed control system
