The Parliament of Georgia has approved a law writing off all debts owed by citizens to 112.

Based on the amendment, persons, whose vehicles were transferred to the impound lot of Public Safety Command Center 112 before September 1, 2020 and who have left their vehicles at the impound lot to date, will be allowed to take their vehicles back for a one-time payment of GEL100. Moreover, a total of GEL 4 million incurred debt will be written off.

Authorized persons will be able to use this debt relief within 3 months after the law enters force. Given the economic hardship caused by the pandemic, writing off up to GEL 4 million liability will be a significant relief for the citizens. In addition, legislative amendments have created an effective mechanism for the admission and release of the vehicles to and from the impound lots, which eliminates the risks of accumulating similar debts for citizens.

It is notable that one of the most important capacities of the Public Safety Command Center 112 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia is to ensure breakdown service. This direction includes the transfer of the vehicle to a impound lot in accordance with the legislation of Georgia.
