On the August 29, the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was visited by 112 students from various public schools involved in the disaster risk reduction project. The young people were given the opportunity to visit the Emergency Management Center and get acquainted with the work process on the spot.

 Adolescents received the necessary information about the effective use of the unified emergency number. They inspected the call center of “112” and observed the specifics of the work of “112” operators and service standards.

The youth of “112” visited within the framework of the second part of the project “Support for Disaster Risk Reduction among Vulnerable Communities and Institutions in the South Caucasus”. The project is implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the Emergency Management Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and is funded by the European Commission Humanitarian Mission Disaster Preparedness Program (DEPECO).

 Within the framework of the project, from August 26 to September 1, 2013, a summer disaster risk reduction camp will be held in the Bazaleti Lake complex. Students and teachers are trained in disaster risk reduction using a variety of interactive games. After the completion of the camp, disaster risk reduction clubs will be formed.

10 pilot schools from 4 regions of Georgia are involved in the project, from Tbilisi and the following regions: Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Racha-Lechkhumi Kvemo Svaneti, Samtskhe-Javakheti and Mtskheta Mtianeti. 30 students and 10 teachers from the pilot schools participated in the camp.
