On September 16, 2014, representatives of the 112 Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia left for Navan, Ireland as part of a study visit.
The Emergency Management Center plans to provide access to 112 for people with disabilities in the near future, which means connecting via short text message and video call. In this regard, Ireland has several years of experience and in their country, this way of contacting 112 during an emergency is well tried.
Within the framework of the visit, the Georgian side will visit the Emergency Management Center of Ireland (BT Communication Ireland Limited). Representatives of 112 will observe on the spot for three days the specifics of the work of connecting via short text message and video call. Both theoretical and practical experience will be shared during the training.
After the study visit, a seminar will be held in Tbilisi with the support of UNDP, during which 112 will develop its own model for easy and effective communication with people with disabilities.
The study visit is organized by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) with the support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
