At the initiative of the Tbilisi City Council, at the Emergency Management Center, the heads of the Analytical Service of the 112 Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Transport

City Service of the Tbilisi City Hall made a presentation on the topic of arranging so-called smart traffic lights.

The presentation by the Emergency Management Center focused on the 112 mission, statistics, new services and future plans. According to the representatives of the center, a special electronic system – ERC 112 was developed by Georgian programmers, which guarantees the efficient performance of the mission and key functions of the high-tech center.

The presentation presented by Paata Jachvliani, the head of the Tbilisi City Hall Transport Service, was related to the improvement of the road network capacity and the improvement of road safety.

According to Giorgi Alebegashvili, one of the main tasks of the City Council, along with many other issues, is to solve the problem related to traffic in the capital, and according to him, the City Council continues to work to solve them in a timely manner.

According to Tamar Taliashvili, Deputy Chairperson of the Sakrebulo faction Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia, after the appointment of Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili as Minister, fundamental changes were made in the 112 Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. It is important that in 2013 Georgia became a member of the 112 European Emergency Number Association.

“I am glad that these steps have been taken and today Georgia, together with EU member states as well as non-member countries, is carrying out coordinated work in this direction. A long-term development strategy for 112 has been written. Also, specifically for tourists and people moving to high-risk regions of Georgia, an alternative channel to 112 has been created – in the form of a GPS tracker. Work has started on connecting text messages and video calls to 112 for people with disabilities, in particular for the deaf and hard of hearing, which will be available in 2015, ”said Tamar Taliashvili.

In order to eliminate traffic problems, the City Council, Urban Planning and Urban Economy Commission of the Capital Municipality continues to coordinate cooperation with 112, as well as with the relevant service of Tbilisi City Hall.
