On the 17-19th of April the Director of LEPL “112” of the Ministry of the Internal Affairs of Georgia paid the three-day working visit to Latvia. Giorgi Bichashvili attended the “EU Emergency Services Workshop 2013” which was held in Riga.

Within the scope of the visit, the Parties exchanged their experiences in the emergency services field, and got acquainted to the practice of different countries and specifications of the emergency centers existing in the abovementioned countries.

The Annual Conference, where approximately 400 representatives from 30 countries were presented, was attended by Georgian representatives for the first time. Internationally recognized experts, representatives from the emergency services field, public officials and representatives from private sectors were represented as well.

It is significant to mention, that in the framework of the “EU Emergency Services Workshop 2013” there were planned the visits of different officials to Georgia, who have played important role in the abovementioned field.

In the framework of the Conference, the Director of “112” visited the Emergency Response Centers and gained information from his colleagues in regard to the unified emergency number – “112”. In addition, the Director of “112” visited the exhibition of new technologies and achievements in the emergency services field.

Furthermore, Giorgi Bichashvili attended “112” Awards Ceremony, where specific persons and organizations, which were actively involved in the process of improvement of services of “112”- as the unified European number, were awarded.

“Involvement of Georgian representatives in the “EU Emergency Services Workshop 2013” is significant, because gained information as well as sharing of different practices and views of internationally recognized experts shall ensure flexible and operative response on the emergency situations as for local citizens, and for tourists as well” – stated the Director of “112” Giorgi Bichashvili.
