November 27-28, 2014, in Spain, St. The final international conference of HeERO (Harmonized eCall European Pilot) was held in Madrid, which was attended by representatives of 112 Georgians. The conference summarized the results of the HeERO 2 project and the work done.

The HeERO project started on January 1, 2011 and involves sending an alarm signal and location information directly to 112 from a vehicle equipped with an eCall device in the event of a road accident.

Each country involved in the HeERO project, in the form of pilot versions, shared their experiences with the conference participants and demonstrated the capabilities of eCall.

From 1 October 2017, 112 across Europe will be able to receive notifications via eCall, and from the first half of 2018, under EU law, eCall will become mandatory for all types of vehicles.

The conference was coordinated by the European Commission, ERTICO ITS EUROPE and the European Emergency Number Association (EENA). The host side was the coordinator of the Spanish pilot project Direccion General de Trafico (DGT).

The event was attended by about 200 delegates from more than 40 countries, including representatives of emergency services and mobile operators.

The first phase of HeERO lasted for three years (2011-2013) and 9 European countries (Germany, Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania and Sweden) were involved in the implementation of the system. HeERO 2 started in 2013 and will last for 2 years, the second phase was joined by 6 countries (Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Luxembourg, Spain and Turkey). Other countries have also become associate partners of this project, and this status will allow them to benefit and share experiences related to HeERO 1 and HeERO 2 projects.

During their visit to Spain, 112 representatives visited 112 Madrid and got acquainted with the specifics of the operation of the Operational Management Center.
