The above-mentioned meetings were forseen by the 2022 Action Plan for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in the System of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, and their purpose was to meet with persons with disabilities, along with their representative organizations and civil society in order to get acquainted with their recommendations and opinions.

The representatives of the Patrol Police Department, Human Rights Protection and Investigation Quality Monitoring Department, Emergency Management Service, Public Safety Command Center “112”and Service Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, attended the regional meetings.

At the meetings, the representatives of the respective units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, within the scope of their competence, discussed the measures taken by the Ministry in previous years, in terms of improving the legal status of persons with disabilities and introduced the future vision and planned activities to persons with disabilities, their organizations, civil society and the representatives of the local self-government.

The workshops were held gradually in Gori, Marneuli, Rustavi, Sagarejo and Telavi.
The meetings were organized by the Network of Centers for Civic Engagement (NCCE), which closely cooperates with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and expresses its constant willingness to support the Ministry in implementing specific measures to improve the legal status of persons with disabilities.
